Melinda Patterson, Receptionist

What brought me to MCC?
I began attending MCC in early 1987.  My first event was a Community Group meeting and I felt at home right away.  I started serving in Children's Church later that year.  In addition to my years in Children's Church, I have sung in the choir, been in A Christmas Remembered many times, traveled to Kenya, Alaska, Chicago, Boston, New York, Washington DC, Nashville and Orlando on mission trips, served in the ministry Bridge Builders for 18 years and now am one of the oldest "teens" in the MIX.  I love my church!

Brief description of my office position.
I have worked as a part time receptionist at MCC since March of 2011.  I answer the phone, type the weekly bulletin, meet lots of interesting people and take care of many of the day to day tasks involved in running an office.  I spend several mornings a week working as part of our new "Protection Ministry" which works ensure that MCC is a safe place for us all to worship.
Where I grew up?
The Richmond area has always been my home.  I grew up in the West End and graduated from Douglas Freeman High School.  My family didn't attend church when I was a child; I accepted Christ at the age of 15 through the ministry of Young Life.
Personal Info:
My husband Jim and I have been married for 26+ years and live in Mechanicsville.  We have two daughters, Erin and Hilary who grew up here at MCC.  Erin and her husband live in South Carolina where they are raising Jack, Grace and Kate.  Hilary and her husband live in California with their children Braden, Leila and Max and are eagerly waiting for a fourth child to arrive next year.  Jim and I spend our vacation time  visiting our children and grandchildren and going on mission trips.
