What is Bible Quiz?
Bible Quiz is a discipleship ministry geared for teens in 6th through 12th grade. Each year a different book (or books) of the New Testament is memorized by students. It is similar to quick-recall academic games (like Jeopardy or the old television show College Bowl). Two teams of quizzers each face a series of twenty questions with varying difficulty. The first quizzer to buzz in and answer the question correctly gains points for their team. Several times during the year, students attend meets within their district in order to test their ability to memorize and understand God’s Word. District and Regional meets take place in the spring of each year with the top teams advancing to Nationals. Each year thousands of dollars in scholarships are awarded to students for their hard work.

What book will be studied this year?
Gospel of Mark

Why should I consider having my child participate in Bible Quiz?
Bible Quiz is a mentorship ministry. An adult Christian, who serves as the coach, is meeting regularly with a group of students to teach what the Scripture means and how it practically applies to their everyday lives. In the end, the coach is mentoring the young person to be more like Jesus. It is not necessary to memorize everything to participate, but it does help. God’s Word did not come by a matter of convenience. Likewise, Bible Quiz takes a bit of time and effort. Teaching the quizzers and setting aside time can be challenging, but the rewards are eternal. Memorizing God’s Word will change your life!

If Bible Quiz is a game or competition, how is it a ministry?
There are only four league competitions during a year plus weekly practices. More time is spent studying what the Scripture means in a small group environment. From the outside, it may look like just competition. From the inside, it is all about friendships (locally & across states) and mentoring. Most practices include a devotional or the quizzers talk about the Word.
The competition just provides the external motivation to study.

What are the age groups that can join and what will they study?
There are many divisions:
Experience Division – easy questions over one chapter per meet (6th – 12th grade)
Middle School Division – easy questions over half the material (6th – 8th grade)
“A” Division – studies all the material and can compete all the way to National Finals.
